Hipbees Backne Mask contains predominately Canadian Glacial Clay:) Over here at Hipbees, we aim to source raw material close to home, it is not always possible (they aren't growing coconuts in SASK yet), but we do what we can. As such, we chose Canadian Glacial Clay for our mask treatments. Referred to internationally as 'miracle clay', it is one of the most pure clays available in terms of the concentration of minerals and elements. Coupled with its amazing absorptive ability, Glacial Clay’s net negative ion charge attracts most positively charged bacteria, contaminants, and toxins, thereby detoxifying, rejuvenating, revitalizing, and deep cleansing the skin:)

To use: Mix about two tablespoons (depending on the size of the back) with equal parts of water until a smooth paste forms. Spread a thin even layer over the affected area and leave on until it just STARTS to dry. Rinse off in the shower with warm water. Finish with a gentle dry brushing if necessary. **Do the touch test: When you start to see it drying (which usually means it gets lighter in color) but it still feels a bit sticky, it's time to wash that baby off so it doesn't dry out your skin!
Important to note: There are three phases of a clay mask, first: the damp phase where your skin drinks in the beneficial minerals from the outside. Second you have the start of the dry phase, which exercises your capillaries and stimulates blood flow as the mask cools and contracts. But then there's the dry phase, which draws out moisture from the surface of your skin, causing dehydration and irritation. If left onto dry completely, the skin can feel dry, tight, and sometimes itchy.
Also important: Using a clay treatment for the skin can actually cause a short-term break out. Don't worry, this is a natural process of the skin healing. It will not last long, and is just part of the de-toxifying process. We sometimes do two masks/week and the results are awesome! However, if there is a severe reaction to the mask discontinue use and please let us know!
